Each federal state has a "Central Cybercrime Contact Point" (ZAC service) for the economy. The ZAC offices are located in the state criminal investigation offices.

Cybercrime includes all criminal offenses that are directed against the internet, data networks, IT systems and their data or that are committed using IT, for example

  • Data/identity theft,
  • data theft,
  • online extortion by means of:
    • DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) or
    • ransomware/cryptotrojans,
  • Man-in-the-middle attack and
  • CEO fraud.

The tasks of the Data Protection Officer are described in Article 39 of the General Data Protection Regulation. These are activities in three areas: Support, advice and control.
