Many cities and municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate have a so-called digital city base map. This topographic map maintains geodata such as:

  • Settlement areas
  • Traffic areas
  • Green areas and vegetation
  • Waters

The digital city base map serves primarily as a basis for planning in municipalities or engineering offices.

The city base map contains the topography in public space in the "Mainz city area" based on the real estate map and is constantly updated.

We can provide you with digital extracts from the city base map in DXF or Shape format and make them available by e-mail or cloud access.

The department manages and updates geodata for the entire city area and maintains it in a geoinformation system. The data is visualized in particular in the city base map, the 3D city model and the official city map. Furthermore, the provision of aerial photographs, oblique aerial photographs and historical maps is one of the tasks of the department.
