Disabled transport service

Source: Serviceportal Rheinland-Pfalz

Some cities and municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate offer special transport services. The disabled transport service is intended to make it easier for people with a temporary or permanent disability to participate in social life and to make everyday life as pleasant as possible.

Special information for District-free City Mainz

Under certain conditions, the state capital of Mainz offers people with disabilities the opportunity to use a transportation service at reduced rates.

Requirements for using the transport service

  • You live in Mainz (Amöneburg, Kastel and Kostheim are not part of the Mainz city area).
  • You have a severely disabled person's pass in which the "aG" mark is entered.
  • No motor vehicle is registered to you.

How does this work in practice?

  • The transportation is valid within the city limits of Mainz, the former suburbs on the right bank of the Rhine and the city of Wiesbaden.
  • Journeys beyond these areas are billed separately with the transport service from the city limits. Costs are not covered by the state capital of Mainz.
  • The city administration of Mainz provides entitled persons with entitlement certificates for 14 journeys per quarter. You can use these entitlement certificates as you wish within this quarter. The travel passes are not transferable to third parties.
  • You must pay a contribution of 3 euros for each travel pass used.
  • Further details on the procedure can be found in the attached information sheet "Transport service for people with disabilities, information sheet", which you can download at the bottom of this page.

Which journeys are excluded?

Journeys to the doctor, to a clinic, to work or to school are excluded from the transportation service, as other cost bearers are responsible for these.

What do you have to do?

You inform us that you would like to use the transportation service. We do not need a formal application.

You can call us or send us an e-mail.
Recommendation: Use our online service.

What do we have to do?

  • We check whether the requirements are met.
  • If you are approved, we will send you a notification and the pro rata entitlement certificates for the quarter or part thereof.
  • We will then send you 14 entitlement certificates for each full quarter.
