For a lifetime you could move freely without the help of others. Suddenly, however, you need regular care, outside help, a barrier-free living situation and other support and facilitation. Here are some possibilities.

Age-appropriate apartments
These apartments must meet special requirements, they must enable seniors to lead an everyday life without obstacles. These are, for example, stepless access to the apartment, wheelchair-accessible sanitary and kitchen facilities, ramps, stair lifts, non-slip floor coverings, grab rails in the bathroom and toilet.

Senior housing complexes
While apartments suitable for the elderly are also individual apartments, senior housing complexes are several rental or condominium apartments, often in combination with services, care options and care facilities.

Nursing homes for the elderly
Retirement homes, non-profit or private-commercial, offer a full supply by in-house staff up to the most severe care. The numerical ratio of nurses and non-specialists is laid down in the Home Staff Ordinance.
