Textbook lending
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzParticipation in the freedom of learning materials/textbook lending is possible in Rhineland-Palatinate for all pupils of all grades and grades of the general education schools, the elective school courses in full-time form at the vocational schools and the colleges.
The system of textbook lending in Rhineland-Palatinate is divided into the freedom of learning materials (free lending) and lending for a fee (paid loan).
Since the 2010/2011 school year, pupils in Rhineland-Palatinate have been able to borrow textbooks free of charge and for a fee.
This is now also possible online!
In the Vulkaneifel district, the following schools (run by the district) offer the option of borrowing textbooks:
- Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium Daun
- Thomas-Morus-Gymnasium Daun
- St. Matthias-Gymnasium Gerolstein
- Drei-Maare-Realschule plus Daun with technical secondary school
- Berufsbildende Schule Gerolstein (only the full-time courses with the exception of the vocational preparation year)
If you fall below certain income limits, you can apply to borrow books free of charge; if you exceed the income limits, you can borrow books for a fee.
The income limit for underage students who live in the household of their custodial parents is
- one child 26.500,- €
- two children € 30,250
- three children € 34,000
- four children € 37,750
- plus € 3,750 for each additional child.
For underage pupils who only live in the household of one parent with custody, the income limit for
- one child € 22,750
- two children € 26,500
- three children € 30,250
- four children € 34,000
- plus € 3,750 for each additional child.
For pupils of full age, the relevant income is the income of the parent or parents liable for maintenance in whose household the pupil lives or last lived.
Notes:
In the case of free textbook loans, please send the application in full, i.e. with the relevant proof of income (please refer to the application for free textbooks), to the Vulkaneifel district administration by March 15 of each year. Applications received after the aforementioned deadline will generally not be considered for the new school year.
If you would like to register to borrow textbooks for a fee, please create a user account on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Further Education and Culture. You will receive a personal student ID from the respective school in advance.
You will then have the opportunity to register to borrow books for a fee.
The dates for the issue of school books can be found on the collection slip and in the local press.

Income requirements
