Advice for single parents
According to the Child and Youth Welfare Act (KJHG), the Youth Welfare Office has the task of advising and supporting single parents in the exercise of personal care, including the assertion of child maintenance claims. You can also use the help of the Youth Welfare Office to apply for benefits under the Maintenance Advance Act. Although the Youth Welfare Office is not authorized to represent the child in court proceedings, it can advise on the legal situation and help with the formulation of written pleadings.
Counseling after the birth of the child (§ 52 a Child and Youth Welfare Act)
The district youth welfare office offers mothers who are not married a consultation immediately after the birth of the child. We will inform you about the
- the importance and possibilities of establishing paternity,
- Calculation, certification and realization of maintenance claims,
- setting up a guardianship,
- Joint parental custody and its notarization
- Advice for young adults (Section 18 (4) of the Child and Youth Welfare Act).
Young adults are also advised and supported by the district youth welfare office in asserting maintenance claims or claims for maintenance compensation, but only if they are under 21 years of age. Here too, the youth welfare office can "only" provide advice, i.e. the youth welfare office provides information about the legal situation. However, representation in court proceedings is excluded.
