Apply for childcare in a day care center
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzCrisis situations or family problems can lead to children or young people being placed in a home or other form of supervised living (e.g. supervised individual living, residential group for several young people, mother-child residential group).
Home education or placement in another form of assisted living is possible:
- as a temporary measure, after which the children or young people return to their family of origin
- as a temporary measure that prepares the children or young people for placement in a foster family
- as a permanent measure that prepares the children or young people for independent living
Residential care
If children or young people cannot stay with their family, even if only temporarily, they may be placed in a home or other form of supervised accommodation. Depending on the age and stage of development of the children/young people and the problem situation, the law formulates the following objectives
- primarily to support the return to the family,
- to prepare the upbringing in another family,
- to offer a long-term living arrangement,
- to prepare for an independent life.
As part of a joint support plan, a suitable facility is sought together with the parents and the child, and future prospects are also determined. As a rule, parents or young adults are asked to contribute to the costs according to their income.
