The work of the District Media Centre serves to promote the public educational mission. The District Media Centre takes on the task of providing, advising and lending analogue and digital audiovisual media, equipment and corresponding accessories for school and extracurricular educational work.

Department 11 - Education and Culture is responsible for school development planning, the supervision of the district's own schools as well as free learning materials and the lending of learning materials for a fee (textbook lending). The organization of school transport and participation in the improvement of local public transport are also tasks of Department 11. Another focus is on cultural tasks. The activities of the music school, the district adult education center, the district archive, the Mehs library, the local history library, the editors of the district yearbook, the district supplementary library and the district media center are coordinated here.
