Requesting access to files in fine proceedings
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzYou can inspect your case file at the Fines Office free of charge and in compliance with data protection regulations. You must apply for access to the file and you can do so without a time limit and informally at the authority keeping the file.

- Access to files is only granted to the person concerned or the authorized representative.
- The inspection must not conflict with any legitimate interests of third parties.
- Proof of identity such as identity card, passport, passport replacement documents for foreign nationals

There are no fees for the inspection of files.
In accordance with Section 107 (5) OWiG, the person requesting the sending of files will be charged a flat rate of 12 euros as expenses for each consignment made, including the return by the authorities. If the file is kept electronically and is transmitted electronically, a flat rate is not charged.
Pursuant to Section 49 (1) OWiG, the administrative authority shall grant the person concerned access to the files upon request, provided that the purpose of the investigation, including in other criminal or fine proceedings, cannot be jeopardized and does not conflict with the overriding interests of third parties worthy of protection. If the files are not kept electronically, copies of the files may be transmitted instead of the inspection of the files.
There are no deadlines to be observed. Inspection is possible at any time upon request.

The Central Fines Office punishes all administrative offenses determined by the district administration (e.g. those relating to building, environmental, food, animal welfare, hunting, weapons, immigration, licensing and social law).
However, business registrations, re-registrations or deregistrations are handled by the local regulatory authorities (local authority administration, Wittlich municipal administration or Morbach municipal administration) of the district.
