Applying for information from the Central Register of Foreigners
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe Federal Office of Administration (BVA) is a higher federal authority and is commissioned by the register authority Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) to provide information on stored data of affected persons from the Central Register of Foreigners.
The general database of the Central Register of Foreigners (AZR) contains the data of foreigners who are staying or have stayed in Germany for more than just a temporary period, i.e. at least 3 months, or for whom there is another legally defined reason for data storage, such as an application for asylum. The separate visa file, on the other hand, contains the data of visa applicants who generally only stay in Germany for a short time.
The data subject information from the Central Register of Foreigners provides you with information on what data about you is stored in the Central Register of Foreigners.
The data stored may include
- Name
- Place of birth
- Date of birth
- Gender
- nationality
- Marital status
- Details of the identity document
Note: In accordance with the Act on the Central Register of Foreigners (AZRG), more or different data may be stored in the AZR.
The data that is stored about you as a foreign national is based on the statutory provisions (§§ 2, 3 AZRG).
Your right to request information serves the purposes of transparency and data protection. You can check the accuracy of your data and, if necessary, have it corrected by the responsible office.
In this way, you can also obtain information about any entry bans imposed on you and the authority that imposed them.
You can submit your application for information from the Central Register of Foreigners online or in writing to the Federal Office of Administration (BVA).
