Apply for entry in the EMAS register
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzEMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) is a community system of the European Community for environmental management and environmental auditing. This instrument helps organizations to improve their environmental performance. The introduction of EMAS is not required by law.
EMAS begins with an inventory, the so-called environmental audit, and leads through the establishment of an environmental management system(processes, organization, responsibilities) with documentation to the preparation of an environmental statement.
Finally, an accredited environmental verifier checks the implemented system and the information in the environmental statement.
If this assessment is positive, the company is then registered by the relevant Chamber of Industry and Commerce or Chamber of Crafts. After registration in the EMAS register, your organization may bear the EMAS logo.
The registration is valid for three years, four years for small organizations. It must then be renewed. To retain registration, your organization must submit an updated environmental statement every year.
