Take over parental contribution
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzProviders of daycare facilities that are part of the demand plan charge parental contributions to cover a proportion of the personnel costs for the support of school children and children who have not yet reached the age of two.
A separate fee is charged for lunch and meals for all children.
Parental contributions are set by the local public youth welfare authority, i.e. the responsible youth welfare office.
If the payment of a parental contribution is not reasonable for the individual (e.g. because the parents' income is too low), the parental contribution will be waived or paid by the local youth welfare office upon application.
The procedure is regulated by the youth welfare office responsible for you.
The application for calculation of the parental contribution must be submitted first and only then can the application for reimbursement of the parental contribution be submitted.
Your contact is the responsible youth welfare office in your district or town.
In order for parental contributions to be waived or paid by the responsible youth welfare office, they must be unreasonable for the parents. This is particularly the case if:
- receive benefits to secure their livelihood in accordance with Book 2 of the German Social Code (SGB II) - basic income support for jobseekers,
- benefits in accordance with the third and fourth chapters of the 12th Book of the Social Code (SGB XII) - assistance for subsistence or basic security in old age - or
- receive benefits in accordance with §§ 2 and 3 of the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act or
- if the child's parents receive child supplement in accordance with § 6a of the Federal Child Benefit Act or
- if the child's parents receive housing benefit in accordance with the Housing Benefit Act.
However, a parental contribution may also be unreasonable if the income as such is very low, but no application for housing benefit has been made, for example.
However, additional relief applies during the Corona crisis!
The responsible youth welfare office can advise you on this.
The responsible youth welfare office will inform you of this on request.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, there are no longer any parental contributions for children from the age of two, but fees may still be charged for children under the age of two and for the support of school children. Separate fees may also be charged for lunch and meals for all children.
In cases where parental contributions continue to be charged, these may be waived or covered in full or in part.

The care of children by a childminder is a service of equal importance to the care of children in a daycare center (Kita). Both forms of care have the legal mandate to educate, raise and support children.
