Specialist in public health

The continuing training regulations in the current version of the National Medical Association of which they are members are legally binding for the doctor. The respective district medical association is responsible for the recognition of qualifications according to the continuing training regulations. The recognition of a designation shall be granted on request by the relevant district medical association upon proof of professional competence after compliance with the prescribed minimum requirements and passed examination.

The recognition of your specialist qualification and the activity as a specialist doctor are only possible if you already have a valid approval / professional permit in Germany. The approval for examination is decided by the relevant district medical association. Approval shall be granted if the fulfilment of the time and content requirements is demonstrated by certificates and evidence.

An appeal against the decision of the competent authority is admissible. Further information can be obtained from the State Medical Association or the District Medical Associations.

You must submit your application for recognition of the specialist medical qualification in writing to the relevant district medical association.
