Source: Serviceportal Rheinland-PfalzIf you acquire firearms by way of succession, they must be secured by a blocking system unless you are already in authorized possession of weapons on the basis of a need in accordance with Sections 8, 13 or 14 of the Weapons Act (WaffG).
If a gun dealer or gunsmith comes to the conclusion that a corresponding blocking system is not yet available for one or more inherited weapons, an exemption from the blocking obligation can be granted on application.
To apply for an exemption from the obligation to block, you need proof that no blocking system is (yet) available for the inherited firearms.
An exemption can also be granted for inherited weapons that are or are to become part of a culturally and historically significant collection in accordance with Section 17 WaffG.
