Request provision of the water book

The water register is an official register similar to the land register. It records water rights and information on protected areas for water management purposes. It also provides environmental information and is important for the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive. The register provides an overview and evidence of decisions made by the authorities.

In particular, the following are recorded in a water register

• Permits and authorizations granted as well as old rights and old powers,
• Planning approval decisions and planning permits,
• Water protection areas,
• risk areas and designated flood plains.

Any person may inspect the water register. The water register is made available by the individual federal states.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate provides a specialist application for this purpose, the digital water book (DigiWab).
