Apply for a short-term license plate

yourself, an authorized representative or an authorized recipient
The person can apply for the short-term license plate at:

• Your local licensing authority, or
• the local registration authority responsible for the location of the vehicle.
• Depending on the offer of the licensing authority, you can download a form or use an online service via the Internet.
• Make an appointment with your local licensing authority by phone or, if possible, online.
• Bring all the necessary documents and the payment amount of 10.20 EUR with you to your appointment.
• Your documents will be checked directly on site.

If the test is positive, you will receive a
your personal short-term license plate. Most of the time, there are
not far from the registration offices, there are also private dealers where you can
immediately afterwards the short-term license plate on a license plate
printed.

Note: As an applicant who does not live in Germany,
is registered, you can download the short-term license plate from the
competent licensing authority if you have a
person entitled to receive it.

The short-term license plate is valid for a maximum of 5 days.
