Report Rat
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzRats usually appear where they find sufficient food, shelter and nesting opportunities. Their feces and urine lead to odor nuisance and they also transmit dangerous diseases.
If you want to report rats, please note the following:
- Property owners must hire a pest controller/exterminator themselves.
- Tenants must first ask the owner to eliminate the problem. (If the landlord refuses this measure, the tenant can contact the responsible public order office. A copy of the tenant's written request must be available.)
- If it can be proven that the perpetrator is a third party, please contact the public order office.
If rats are found in public places or if the perpetrator is a third party, contact the responsible public order office directly.
The costs for the pest controller/exterminator are borne by the property owner.
In addition to rodents (e.g. brown rats, house rats and house mice), vermin (e.g. cockroaches, flour moths, bacon beetles) are also hygiene pests that contaminate food and/or buildings, destroy supplies and foodstuffs and ultimately also cause technical defects.
A lot of information on pest control can be found on the website of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety. If their pest control is unsuccessful or not carried out at all, it may happen that the responsible public order office orders (legal) measures.
