License plate: green license plate

The application for the allocation of a green license plate must be submitted to the registration authority in connection with the registration of the vehicle.

Applications for registration must be submitted to the registration authority responsible for the place of residence (main residence within the meaning of the Federal Registration Act).

In the case of legal entities, tradespeople and self-employed persons with a fixed place of business, the authority responsible is that of the registered office or the location of the branch involved.

In order to be able to prove the tax exemption, it is recommended to submit the corresponding notification from the pension office / the corresponding confirmation from the main customs office to the registration authority.

Fees are charged in accordance with the scale of fees for road traffic measures.

The amount of the fees may vary depending on the case constellation. Specific information on this can be obtained from the relevant local licensing authority.

Vehicles with the green license plate may not be used for other purposes. If the vehicle is used for any other purpose, this is an offense against the tax law and can be prosecuted.
