Casino: Apply for a licence
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIn order to be able to operate a casino in Rhineland-Palatinate, a permit is required.
A licence is granted exclusively on the basis of a public Europe-wide invitation to tender in accordance with the Rhineland-Palatinate Casino Act. The required contents of an application can be found in the invitation to tender. The permit application must be submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and Sport Rhineland-Palatinate.
According to the Casino Act, the locations Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and Mainz are considered as main gaming operations. In Bad Dürkheim and Nürburg, a branch game operation of the Casino Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, in Bad Ems and Trier a branch game operation of the Casino Mainz can also be permitted.
A casino license is issued for 10 years. It can be extended once for up to 5 years upon request.
It is not possible to grant a permit outside of a public tender.
