Applying for an exemption from the permit requirement for weapons
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzIn principle, you require a permit for the purchase and possession of ammunition. However, there are specific exceptions to this rule. In addition, you have the option of applying for an exception in individual cases, provided there are special reasons and public safety and order concerns do not conflict with this. However, this is only possible for cases that are comparable to the specifically named exceptional cases.
You can obtain an exemption as follows:
- You make an application and submit the required documents,
- the required documents will be checked and you may have to submit further required documents
- the requirements of § 12 Paragraph 5 WaffG are checked
- the decision under firearms law is made.
Responsibility lies with the local weapons authorities of the independent cities and districts responsible for your place of residence or habitual abode.
- there are special reasons
- there are no public safety and order concerns to the contrary
- there is comparability with the exceptional cases specified in Section 12 of the Weapons Act
- existing permit requirements are not circumvented
- there is an individual case
