Apply to the care insurance fund for a residential group supplement for people in need of care

In order to receive a living group supplement, you must first appoint a person to support your living group in everyday life.

• You can submit the application for a group living allowance by post, for example, or - with many long-term care insurance funds - in person at the office or online.
• Download the application from the website of your care insurance fund.
• Complete the application.
• Submit the application to your long-term care insurance fund.
• Payment is made monthly in advance, as with care allowance.
  

• You have statutory long-term care insurance
• You have at least care level 1
• You live with at least 2 and a maximum of 11 other people in an outpatient assisted living group in a shared apartment
• This apartment exists for the purpose of jointly organized care provision
• You and at least 2 other people receive outpatient care services
• There is no form of full inpatient or partial inpatient care
• You have jointly appointed a person to support you in everyday life, in the household and in organizing living together
  

• informal confirmation that the requirements for recognition of the residential group have been met
• Address and founding date of the residential group
• Tenancy agreement with floor plan of the apartment and care contract

Depending on the individual case, further documents may be required, for example an agreement with the appointed person about the tasks to be performed. Please contact your care insurance fund for more information.

You do not have to pay anything for the application.

The entitlement to the benefit begins in the month in which the application is made, but at the earliest from the date on which the conditions for entitlement are met. If the application is not made in the calendar month in which the need for care arose, but is made later, the benefit is granted from the beginning of the month in which the application is made.

Processing normally takes around 2 to 3 working days.
In order to process and decide quickly, your long-term care insurance fund must have the necessary information and any required documents in a complete and meaningful form.
The long-term care insurance fund decides on applications promptly.

The exact processing time also depends on the complexity of the individual case and may be longer. The same applies if documents or records are sent to you or your long-term care insurance fund by post.
