Apply for permission for external take-off and landing

If you use or own an aircraft, it is licensed for certain airfields where you can take off or land.

If you want to take off or land at airfields for which your aircraft is not licensed, you will need the following permits:

• Permission from the responsible aviation authority
• Permission from the airport operator

This applies to take-offs and landings of aircraft in the following cases

• outside the designated runways of an airfield
• outside the operating hours of an aerodrome
• within the restricted operating hours of an aerodrome

If you wish to take off or land outside an airfield, you also require the consent of the following parties

• the owner of the land, or
• an authorized person for the site or
• the local authority.

Permission is granted generally or for an individual case. It may be subject to conditions and is granted for a limited or unlimited period of time.

In the following cases, you do not require permission for an off-site landing:

• if you cannot foresee the place of landing due to the characteristics of your aircraft, for example in the case of
  • gliders
  • hang gliders
  • gliders
  • manned balloons
• if you have to land unexpectedly for safety reasons or to help if another person is in danger
