Religious Education Deregistration

Pupils take part in religious education according to their denomination. (In the 2025/2026 school year, Protestant, Catholic, Mennonite, Alevi and Islamic religious education will be offered in Rhineland-Palatinate). Religious education is a regular subject - but participation is voluntary.It is possible to deregister in writing: up to the age of 14 by the parents, thereafter by the pupils themselves.Even if young people from the age of 14 are allowed to decide for themselves about their participation in religious education, their parents will be informed by the school if they wish to deregister.

Pupils who do not take part in religious education attend ethics classes.

Pupils whose religion is not taught at school do not have to attend ethics classes - provided that they regularly attend equivalent religious instruction in their community outside school that is recognized by the school authorities.
